You have the right to ask Shea Butter Central Ghana Limited to delete the personal data we hold about you. This page tells you exactly how to make that request, how long it takes, and what β if anything β we can't delete.
How to request deletion
Send an email to hello@sheabuttercentral.com with the subject line "Data deletion request".
In the email, include:
- Your full name as it appears on your account or order.
- The email address or phone number you used with us.
- If you're requesting deletion of a Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp conversation: the platform (FB / IG / WhatsApp) and your handle or phone number on that platform, so we can find the conversation.
- Whether you want everything deleted (account, orders, messages) or just a specific piece (e.g. only the IG DM conversation, not your order history).

What we delete
- Your customer account (email, name, phone, delivery address).
- All Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp conversations you've had with us, including any AI-drafted reply records associated with them.
- Your preferences and any notes we've added internally about your conversations.
What we can't fully delete
Some records we're legally required to keep, even if you ask us to delete everything:
- Order and tax records: Ghana tax and consumer law require us to keep transactional records (order ID, amount, date, payment reference) for seven years after the order. We will pseudonymise these β your name and contact details are removed, but the order itself stays in our books.
- Records of legal disputes or fraud investigations, if any, until the matter is closed.
- Aggregated, anonymous analytics (page views, popular products) β these don't identify you individually and are kept indefinitely.
After the seven-year tax retention period, the order records are deleted automatically.
What about Meta's copy of the messages?
Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp store a copy of your conversations on their own servers, independent of us. Deleting messages from SBC's records does not delete them from Facebook or Instagram's records. To request that Meta delete their copy, you'll need to use their tools directly:
- Facebook / Messenger: delete messages and conversations
- Instagram: Instagram data deletion form
- WhatsApp: delete the chat from your device, or delete your WhatsApp account in Settings.
How long it takes
We confirm receipt of your request within 2 working days. We complete the deletion within 30 days at the latest β usually within a week.
Once it's done, we send you a confirmation email listing exactly what was deleted and what (if anything) is being retained under section 03 above.
If we can't verify it's you
We may ask you a follow-up question or two to confirm you're the person whose data you're asking us to delete β e.g. the date of a recent order, or the delivery address on file. This is to stop someone else impersonating you. If we can't verify it, we won't delete the data and we'll explain why.
If you're unhappy with the response
You can lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana, the supervisory authority under Ghana's Data Protection Act (2012).
