Terms of service

The rules of the road for
shopping and messaging with us.

Last updated Β· 5 June 2026

These are the terms of service for Shea Butter Central Ghana Limited ("SBC," "we," "us"). They cover everything you do on sheabuttercentral.com and any conversations you start with us on Facebook Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp. By using the site or messaging us, you agree to these terms. If anything's unclear, email hello@sheabuttercentral.com before you place an order.

01

Who we are

SBC is a private Ghanaian company that makes shea-butter products in Gupanarigu, Northern Ghana, and sells them directly via this site and our messaging channels. Our registered office is in Accra. The founder is Christopher Tetteh.

02

Your account

You can browse and message us without an account. To checkout faster, you can sign in via email β€” we send you a magic link, no password to remember or lose.

Keep your account details accurate (delivery address, phone, name). If we can't reach you because the details are stale, we may have to cancel and refund an order.

One account per person. Don't share your login β€” anyone who has your email inbox can sign in as you.

03

Orders and prices

Prices on the site are shown in your local currency where we support it (GHS by default, plus USD / EUR / GBP / CAD for our supported delivery regions). Prices include applicable taxes. Shipping is calculated separately at checkout based on where the order is going.

An order is confirmed when we send you the confirmation email β€” not when you reach the checkout success page. If we can't fulfil an order (out of stock, delivery address unreachable, payment fails verification), we'll email you and issue a full refund.

We don't accept orders for resale through this site without prior wholesale arrangement β€” visit the wholesale page or email hello@sheabuttercentral.com.

04

Payment

Ghana orders go through Paystack; international orders go through Stripe. Both are PCI-compliant. We never see or store your full card details.

If a payment fails or is reversed after the order is shipped, we may pause your account until we've sorted it out with you.

05

Shipping

We ship to Ghana and to our supported international regions (currently US, UK, EU, Canada). If your country isn't supported, the site will tell you at checkout. We use a mix of in-house couriers (Ghana) and international shipping partners abroad.

Delivery times shown on the site are estimates, not guarantees. Once an order leaves us we'll send tracking info; after that the courier's terms apply for lost-in-transit, refused-by-recipient, or customs-related issues.

06

Returns and refunds

Shea butter is a personal-care product. For hygiene reasons we can't accept returns of opened jars unless the product is faulty or arrived damaged.

If your order arrived broken, melted in transit, or short β€” message us within 7 days of delivery with a photo and the order number. We'll replace it or refund it, your choice. Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 working days.

07

Messaging us

When you DM us on Facebook Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp, we receive the message text, your public profile name on that platform, and the platform's anonymous user ID. We use these to read your question, reply to it, and link your conversation to your customer record if you've ordered before.

Replies you receive from us are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by a human admin before being sent. The admin can edit, regenerate, or reject the draft. We use Anthropic's Claude to generate the drafts; only your message text is sent to Anthropic, not your personal data.

For urgent matters (a delivery problem, a payment issue, a complaint) please mention it clearly so we prioritise your message. We aim to reply within one working day, often faster.

08

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the site or messaging channels to harass our staff or our partner producers in Gupanarigu.
  • Pretend to be someone else when ordering or messaging.
  • Attempt to break, scrape, or overwhelm the site.
  • Resell our products under a different brand without our written agreement.

We reserve the right to refuse orders or block accounts that breach these rules.

09

What we promise (and what we don't)

We promise that the product on the shelf was filled in Ghana by people we can name, and that the price reflects the whole chain β€” not a markup for its own sake.

We don't make medical claims. Our products are cosmetic-grade shea butter. They're "used for" or "loved for" things; never "treats," "cures," or "heals." If you have a skin condition, see a doctor β€” not our FAQ.

10

Liability

We're liable for our own mistakes β€” a wrong item shipped, a damaged jar, a billing error. We're not liable for losses outside our control: courier strikes, customs seizures in your country, allergic reactions to ingredients we've clearly disclosed on the product page.

Nothing in these terms limits liability we can't legally exclude under Ghana law (death or personal injury from negligence, fraud, or statutory consumer rights).

11

Intellectual property

The brand name, logo, photographs, copy, and product designs are ours. You're welcome to share our content on social media (and we love it when you do) β€” please credit us and don't pass it off as your own.

12

Privacy

How we handle your data is covered in our privacy policy. You can request a copy of your data, correct anything wrong, or delete your account at any time β€” see the data-deletion page.

13

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms β€” new product categories, new regions, regulatory changes. We'll bump the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes that affect existing orders will be emailed to you before they take effect.

14

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Disputes that can't be resolved by emailing us first go to the courts of Ghana.
